Hey Friend! Thanks for checking us out.
Welcome to Green Eats – a blog that is centered around organic and local grown foods all around Oregon. Our goal is to create an online community where anyone can learn and discuss local and organic foods throughout the Pacific Northwest. We want to emphasize healthy lifestyles while also supporting our local communities.
Our blog is a result from Southern Oregon Universities, 2021 Winter term – Strategic Social Media (COMM 323) class. This class is aimed at teaching students to gain practical skills and conceptual knowledge in social media campaigns to achieve strategic goals for clients.
Meet the Team!
Lianna Inthavong
Hello, my name is Lianna and I am a senior at Southern Oregon University studying Communications in social media and public engagement. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and growing up, supporting local communities was always a part of my lifestyle– whether it was going to the saturday market or local farmer’s market. My interests in local and organic foods have grown over the years and I want to help spread knowledge about it. I think Oregon is a unique place that deserves more recognition than it gets and seeing more and more people turn towards local and organic food warms my heart.
Kayla Ryan
Hey there! I’m Kayla, and I’m currently studying Business Administration, Hospitality and Tourism, and Communications at Southern Oregon University. I earned my Associate’s degree in Science at Portland Community College; while there, I would constantly be exposed to farmer’s markets, community gardens, and new systems revolving around sustainability. Before moving down to Ashland, Oregon, I spent several years working on farms with animals and plants/produce. These local farms play a big part in providing natural and organic food for the surrounding communities through local markets, something in which I am proud to be a part of!
Holly Saindon
Hey! My name is Holly, and I am currently a senior attending Southern Oregon University. I am working on gaining a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration on Marketing. While also working towards obtaining a certificate in Interactive Marketing and eCommerce (CIMeC). Prior to SOU I graduated from Tillamook Bay Community College with three other degrees. Fun fact: I was born in Forks, WA but lived in La Push, WA for a short amount of time. I grew up in a military family so moving around every few years was pretty normal, but during all my travels I had the opportunity to experience a whole world of new things. Many of which I credit towards helping me find my passion for marketing and food. Every place I lived my family grew our own food and helped out at both government housing gardens and community ones. So, when I finally moved to Oregon and was exposed to all the local farms scattered along the coast that passion grew even bigger. There is a strong love for local and organic food here in Oregon and I am glad to be a part of that in addition to wanting to share it with others.
Tai Afrae
Hello! My name is Tai and I am a senior at Southern Oregon University majoring in Psychology with a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. I was born and raised in California, but upon coming to Oregon for school I absolutely fell in love!! The scenery, the community, and especially the healthy and amazing food are all reasons I have come to call Oregon my home. I am involved with the Student Sustainability Center on campus and that really kick-started my love for sustainable eating and locally grown/sourced foods! Being in Oregon changed my whole mindset around food! Coming from fast-paced California, I never really knew where my food was coming from or that I should even care about that, but after being here I have learned how important it is to be mindful of where you are getting your food and just how important it is to support your local communities!
